About us
Who are the tutors?
All of our tutors have achieved outstanding grades at school (above 93% in 12th Boards or completed the highest levels in Languages) and are personally interviewed by a member of our team to ensure they will be able to inspire their students. You are also welcome to read Testimonials from others who have previously worked with our tutors to help you make your choice; all parents and tutors are invited to leave feedback with the team after each session they have with a tutor.
What subjects and ages do Slatemates cover?
Slatemates offers tuitions in any subject, at any grade and board. We cater from 4th graders to adults, including CBSE, ICSE, State boards, GCSE, IB or Languages like French and English. We have a wide range of tutors that are experienced and specialised at each level in each subject, so we are sure to have a tutor who can help.

Our Education Advisors are always here to help with any queries you might have, to ensure that you have the best experience possible and achieve your learning goals. What makes a good tutor?
Subject knowledge is a must, but being great at teaching is really about explaining difficult concepts in a way that's clear, engaging and personalised for each student.
You can have three degrees in Physics or Mathematics, but that doesn't mean you'll be good at explaining it to a CBSE / ICSE/ IB Board student!

About Free Trial Class
How do I book my free trial class?
We aim to make it as easy as possible for every student to find the right tutor for them. From our home page, you can Click onbutton and fill in all details and submit. You will recieve a call thereafter from our academic advisor. A tutor profile along with the DEMO LINK will be mailed to you after the call.
Do I need to pay for the demo class?
The demo class is FREE. Just book the demo from the website and learn from India's best tutors
How long does the demo session last?
A demo class duration is typically between 45 to 60 min
If I liked the Demo class what happens after that?
If you enjoyed the demo class feel free to share it with our academic advisor Otherwise the academic advisor calls back for a feedback. The payment mails are sent to you immediately. Once a teacher is booked for 6 classes by making a payment for the 6 classes, the regular classes can start.
Can I schedule the demo class as per my convenience/time?
Once you have booked the demo from the website our academic advisor will call you and take down your preferences with respect to your schedule and time for the Demo. The demo class will happen as per your convenience time and day.
Can the demo happen instantly?
Usually the tutors already have a schedule for the day. We try to arrange a short LIVE meeting instantly with your tutor for about 10-15 min instead.
What is a Slatemates online LIVE Demo class?
We know that everyone is different, and we know how important it is to find the right tutor for you! Sometimes you just know but sometimes you might need to get to know someone a bit more before you’re ready to commit. In that case,every Slatemates tutor is able to offer you a Demo session of a subject topic based on your choice before booking in for regular tuitions together. This gives you a chance to meet your tutor and get to know them and their teaching styles a bit better, discuss your learning goals and create a plan of action for future lessons. The cost of a Demo class is completely FREE at Slatemates. The academic advisor arranges the demo as per your convenience.
What if I don't like the Demo class?
In that case we are happy to provide for another Demo class absolutely free of cost with a different tutor.
About Online Classes
Do you share the personal contact number of the tutor?
We feel that sharing your tutor’s contact details is your right and a fair thing to do. Immediatly after the tutor is booked for 6 classes (paying) the contact details are emailed to you.
Will the teacher change?
As long as you are happy with the tutor we never change the teacher.
What if I want to change my teacher?
Yes! If you are not satisfied at any point of time we provide you another teacher and the academic advisor will arrange a Demo with the new teacher as well asap.
How do I start my online classes at Slatemates?
Once the Demo class has been taken, you have to inform the academic advisor you are in touch with. The academic advisor takes your availability and understands the academic schedule and tries to match it up with the teacher. Meanwhile all respective emails are sent containing payment details. Once a payment is made, you are eligible to start off with the classes on the scheduled days and time.
We send you details of student login only once a payment is made. A support team member calls you up and sets up the first class for you.
How will my child and the tutor interact online in a Slatemates Class?
Slatemates interactive online tuition classrooms allow audio-only interaction which means the tutor and your child will be able to see each other and speak to each other.
In a Slatemates tuition class, your child has a natural back-and-forth conversation with an excellent tutor. The focus is on your child explaining(able to speak instead of type on chat box) their reasoning verbally, and demonstrating their workings using the classroom tools.
About Payment
Do I get a refund back?
Yes. If you choose to discontinue with the classes, any advance payment made (on pro rata basis) will be refunded to your bank account within 7 working days.
Will I be charged for a class if there is a power cut?
The slatemates dashboard automatically logs you out of a class when the student goes offline. In case of power cut the same thing is followed. Only those class minutes are recorded for which the student is online.
Will I be charged for a class if I cancel a scheduled class?
No. There are no cancellation charges at Slatemates. But it is always considered respectable and ethical for a student to pre inform the teacher incase of cancellation.
If my child is unable to join a scheduled class (due to technical error)?
Support Support Support. That's why we are here! We look after all technical glitches if any. All you have to do is contact your academic advisor and they immediately provide support and fix the issue.Dont worry we never charge you for a class where you faced a technical error.
